About the Class
Learn how games actually work under the hood. In this beginner-friendly class, you’ll explore the core programming concepts behind modern games using Unreal Engine. You’ll build simple systems like player movement, interactions, and basic game logic, all while creating a small playable project of your own.
Each session blends guided instruction with hands-on building time, so you’re not just learning concepts—you’re applying them right away. By the end of the class, you’ll have a working game and a strong foundation in how games are built.
The class is designed for high school students, but it’s open to anyone ages 13 and up, including adults who are curious about game programming. No prior experience is required, but students will need to bring a laptop capable of running Unreal Engine (Mac or PC), a Discord account, and a willingness to figure things out. You can check the system requirements and download Unreal Engine here.
Homeschool students can count this course as 0.5 credits toward a high school computer science credit.
